Since 2018, Maya Selva Cigars has launched limited editions celebrating the Chinese New Year. This special blend pays homage to the handcrafted cigar tradition. The line's design combines traditional Chinese patterns with Mayan hieroglyphs. Similar to the Chinese, the ancient Maya's animal world played an important role in their spiritual beliefs, symbolism and iconography. The Maya believe that we are all born with a "NAHAUL" or animal spirit to guide us through life. Each of the special edition Maya Selva Cigars is decorated with a design that combines traditional Chinese patterns and Mayan hieroglyphs.
The latest limited edition celebrates « 18 Conejo » (Uaxaclajuun Ub'aah K'awiil), the 13th ruler of Copan. Due to the number of structures and monuments erected during his reign, he is considered the greatest patron of the arts in the history of Copan. The sheer number of sculptures commissioned by « 18 Conejo » is a remarkable achievement in the Classic Maya era. He reigned from 695 to 738.
The new and special blend is a homage to the tradition of handmade cigars. The tobacco for the Corona format cigar AÑO DEL CONEJO is handpicked in the famous Jamastrán Valley in Honduras. This medium-bodied blend offers the aficionado very pleasant woody, earthy and nutty aromas.
