Hoyo de Monterrey

The designation Hoyo de Monterrey is attributed to the city of San Luis y Martinez, which is found in the heart of the Vuelta Abajo tobacco region. The plantation of Hoyo de Monterrey, one of the largest Vegas Finas de Primera, is reached by passing through a gate in the most important square in the city which is inscribed with the words ”Hoyo de Monterrey de José Gener 1860”. Hoyo literally means “hollow” and aptly describes the low situation of the plantation on the fruitful banks of the River San Juan y Martinez. In 1865, José Gener, a Spaniard from Catalonia, set a precedent by first naming a cigar brand after a Vega.

The taste of the Hoyo de Monterrey cigars make them a popular choice for all who seek a fine, but at the same time, aromatic cigar, with a mild taste, but which nevertheless maintains a great elegance and complexity. The most well-known formats are the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 1, the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 and the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicures Especiales. The Le Hoyo series, such as the Hoyo de Monterrey Hoyo du Depute, Hoyo de Monterrey Hoyo des Dieux, Hoyo de Monterrey Hoyo du Maire, Hoyo de Monterrey Hoyo du Prince and Hoyo de Monterrey Hoyo du Gourmet are appreciated by friends of small format cigars.
