Rafael Gonzalez cigars have been around since 1928. The brand was originally called La Flor de Marquez, however in 1936 it was renamed Rafael Gonzalez. The Rafael Gonzalez brand is credited with introducing the Lonsdale cigar format. This vitola is believed to be named after the fifth Earl of Lonsdale, Hugh Cecil Lowther.
The cigars are made from the finest tobacco grown in the famous Vuelta Abajo region, which is at the forefront of the Cuban tobacco industry. They are made in Romeo y Julieta's factory and are considered mild to medium-bodied. The palate is filled by notes of leather, earth and chocolate.
